## Description

Combine panoramic views and traditional Cretan villages in one of the most famous areas of Western Crete, “Apokoronas” in a small group of 6-8 people in each vehicle. Learn about the history and the traditions of the island by visiting the villages, speak and hang out with locals and taste local dishes, all accompanied by the Cretan hospitality that characterises us. 

Our day begins with a stop in the village of Vrysses close to the river side and under plane trees. We continue our route around the traditional villages of Nipos and Tzitzifes and Fres for a coffee break. Following we will visit the temple of Virgin Mary (Panagia) of Two Rocks. Once a rock detached from the mountain and rolled down the slope. On the top of the rock, the church of Panagia was built. Adjacent there, is another rock, both forming an impressive scenery.

Our amazing off-road adventure begins after climbing up the White Mountains and passing through villages of Pemonia and Melidoni which are situated at the foothill of White Mountains. On the way up to the shepherd’s hut called “Mitato” you will enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of Northern Crete and if we are lucky, eagles might appear and wild goats could stop for us to take some photos. A bumpy rocky road will lead us up to our trip’s highest point of 1300 meters altitude, where you will find out all about the lifestyle of a shepherd and explore his original "Mitato". On our way down to the villages, we will have a stop in Armenoi village for lunch with Cretan delicacies platters. Our day starts from Rethymnon city heading south east through coast line road until Melidoni Village and Apithano Honey factory where we make our first stop for a guided tour in the factoiry and tast some honey. After our morning stop and driving through the traditional villages of Milopotamos (Melidoni, Apladiana, Doxaro, Agridia,Tsaxiana) and areas with dense vegetation, fresh aromas and unique views. The amazing route and views continue until we reach the historic Halepa Monastery, that used to be a refuge for Cretan rebels during civil wars where we make our second stop. The unique view from the monastery will inspire you to take pictures, combining the highest mountain tops of Crete with the beautiful valley.

Afterwards our amazing off-road route continues and on the way up to the shepherd’s hut called “Mitato” the panoramic views will take your breath away. If we are lucky, we will get to marvel up close some wild eagles and goats and take some photos. The road will lead us up to a traditional Shepherd’s hut where you will find out all about the lifestyle of a shepherd and the cheese making process. 

Leaving the shepherd’s hut and already working up our appetite we will soon arrive at a traditional Cretan tavern in Axos village, where we are going to introduce you to Cretan cuisine and heartfelt hospitality with plenty of local platters. Enough time will be provided after lunch for those who wish to enjoy a cup of coffee. On our way back we will follow an asphalt road that will lead us to the city of Rethymnon.

Escape to the Marathon Lake, Domaine Costas Lazaridis for a unique winery tour with tasting and lunch to a local tavern on a semi private premium seven hours tour.

Our day starts after we pick you up from your hotel or a point close to the indicated hotel if car access is not possible. We will follow the national road to North Suburbs of Athens, and at Agios Stefanos area our adventure route starts. Following this route in the wide area close to Marathon we approach the lake where our first stop takes place.

Marathon Lake is a water-supply reservoir of Athens city, formed from the construction of Marathon Dam at the junction of the Charadros and Varnavas torrents. Enough time for photo opportunities is provided to the stunning view of Marathon lake dam. Continuing our day tour around the lake, enjoying our uncharted routes and panoramic views we reach Rathes and the Fairy forest of Varnava for our second stop. ## ITINERARY

### A small beautiful village

We will start our tour by visiting a beautiful well-hidden village, Margarites. The tradition of pottery has been an integral part of this village for many generations; there are lots of locals who still keep the tradition alive, up to this day, by transforming the traditional practice of pottery into modern art. In Margarites, we will meet our friend Yorgos, a local, who will show you how the pots are hand thrown. A demonstration of his art will follow, that will certainly stay “carved” in our memory. The village itself has a unique architecture and some lovely narrow winding streets, making it worth being explored. So, let’s wander through the quiet village of Margarites, enjoy the hundreds of colors that lie before our eyes and then enjoy a traditional coffee at a small “kafeneio”.

### Feel the sanctity of Arkadi

After a 25' drive, we will continue to the religious and historical part of our tour. The goal is to become familiar with the Cretan culture and its religious customs. The Arkadi monastery is perhaps the best known monastery in Crete, due to its history of the Holocaust in 1866. However, its location and impressive architecture make it all more special. For everyone who visits the Arkadi monastery, the feeling is unique; serene and quiet, but also emotionally powerful. Dedicated to Saint Constantine, the church of the monastery is just exceptional. The monastery in general is full of flowers, so many that it is impossible to list them all, but the rose garden especially is extraordinary. Let’s not skip the museum chambers as well; there, we will find many photographs of historically important people, such as Hadjimichalis Giannaris, who during the revolution helped to ignite the patriotism and the anger of the Cretans. ### Let’s explore the nature of Crete

Next up, is the gorge of Patsos. A small yet magnificent gorge, which begins at Ano Assites, is the necessary part to complete this excursion. The whole area around the gorge is of particular natural beauty. In the gorge, we can see rare species of flora and fauna, which are protected by the European legislation. As we walk onto the beautiful path, we will meet the attraction of the cavernous church of St. Anthony inside the rocky walls, which used to be a former temple of Hermes. If we want, we can stop at this point or even sooner, and head back for our return. If not, continuing from there, we will follow the trail to the ‘Potamon” dam. On the sides of the gorge there is an observation deck for birds in the area as well. During the biggest part of our hike, there is enough shadow and water to keep us cool; also, the feeling of walking under so many trees and next to running waters is unique! Usually, to complete the route, we will hike for about 3 1/2 hours, but depending on the weather and the physical condition of the travelers, we could hike more or less. It’s really up to you to choose how much walking we will do! It is also up to you to pick your favorite place to have a pic-nic with the best Cretan snacks and some wine or raki.When we decide to return, we follow the same path and end up at the starting point of the gorge.

Continuing our day we follow the north coastline through traditional villages of Sisses, Aloides in the heart of Cretan mountains admiring the unique view of Psiloritis and Mylopotamos area will inspire you to take pictures, combining the highest mountain top of Crete with the beautiful valley until we reach the historic Vosakos Monastery, that used to be a refuge for Cretan rebels during civil wars. ## Description

Discover the inland of Crete and the national park of Samaria from above on a unique semiprivate tour for up to 6 or 8 persons per vehicle, as we are crossing the beautiful Cretan landscape in our premium off-road vehicles.

Our day starts from Chania moving south to reach the big orange valley. In a few minutes we will be inside the valley moving southwest through orange trees and farming areas, full of aromas and tastes. Crossing the valley we will encounter the villages of Varipetros, Agia, Alikianos, Fournes and start climbing on altitude through an offroad route, with dense vegetation and the best panoramic view of Chania, we reach Lakoi village for our coffee break.

Reaching an altitude of 1000m our adrenaline will raise while we continue our off-road route through the heart of the White Mountains, crossing the unknown shepherd's paths, filling ourselves with the fresh air and magical scenery of the wild vegetation, livestock and breathtaking landscapes. At the end of our adventure route we will reach the Kallergi Refuge at 1680m altitude above sea level. The view just above Samaria Gorge is unique. Looking towards the south you will get a glimpse of the Libyan Sea and the highest tops of the White Mountains surrounding you. Reaching Omalos Plateau we stop for lunch with local platters in a traditional Cretan tavern.

After lunch as we follow the way back we pass by the beautiful and historical village of Lakkoi, where we stop for some photos and information about the village and then we continue our route back to Chania filled with the essence of Crete.

**✻** Please note that during winter (December-March) the Kallergi refuge may be inaccessible due to dense snow. In that case, we reach Xiloskalo (the entrance of Samaria Gorge) and then we follow alternative off-road routes through mountains and villages.

## Description

Guided private premium day tour taking you east out to the largest city on Crete, Heraklion and to the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological museum. We are also taking you back in time to the Minoan civilisation.

Our day starts with departing from Chania around 8:00 am and heading east along the north coast by the sea. Passing the city of Rethymnon and Heraklion and continuing a short bit towards the inland of Crete until we reach the Palace of Knossos to meet our certified guided. The palace is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, a cradle of European culture and the center of the Minoan civilisation. Follow your certified guide (optional with extra cost) on a 2-hour tour through the fascinating story of the Minoan period and learn about the Minotaur and Ariadne. After this inspiring tour you will head to the Archaeological museum, one of Europe’s most important museums that bring together archaeological finds from all over Crete, covering over 5500 years of the island’s history. Your professional guide will talk you through the most important collection of Minoan antiquities. After the visit at the museum our escort will drive you through the city of Heraklion as we are heading towards national road to Rethymnon.

Following the national road to Rethymnon we are going to visit a traditional Greek tavern where we will have our lunch break. After the meal and driving through the city of Rethymnon we follow the national road by the sea to Chania where our day comes to an end by dropping you off to your hotel.

## Don't Forget

Don’t forget your face masks, comfortable shoes, for example trekking shoes or sandals, camera, sun protection, etc. During spring and autumn, we advise you to bring a jacket. 

The trip is not recommended to people suffering from car sickness, having mobility or kinetic or back problems, pregnant women or for children younger than 7 years old as we don't provide baby seats, or people taller than 195 cm or heavier than 130 kg. Alcohol consumption is not allowed to minors under age of 18 years old. Operators reserves the right to make minor changes in the program when considered necessary, for example, in case of unfavourable weather conditions. This can be done without any prior notice. 

Reservations must be done no later than 24 hours prior to departure. Any cancellation must be made according to our cancelation policy. In case of late cancellations, no refund will be granted from Operator. If a tour is cancelled due to insufficient number of participants or adverse weather conditions, Operator will refund 100% of made payments.

The trip has guided stops every 30-40 minutes, for everyone's convenience.

When meals are included, Operators can arrange vegetarian alternatives, but information is required upon reservation. This also counts for any kind of food allergies, in order to find suitable alternatives if possible.

**Before Your Tour**:
- We recommend that you should be at the pick-up area (your hotel or another indicated point nearby your hotel) 10 minutes prior to your pick up time. Our driver/escort will be on time to welcome you and show your seat, in order to keep social distancing guidelines.
- Our vehicles are filled up according to governmental covid-19 law of their capacity. Those governmental laws and regulations against covid-19 infections might change, but are strictly followed at all times.
- The body temperature and wellness of all those participating in the tour (escort, driver, staff and guests) will be monitored daily, excluding and maintaining in quarantine any who display fever or other symptoms.

**On Board**:
- Please follow all the instructions given to you by your guide.
- Sanitising dispensers are available at each vehicle.

**During Your Tour**:
- Everybody that is taking part in the tour (escort, driver, guests etc...) will wear face mask throughout its duration as long as it is required by law.
- Sealed lunch boxes will be given on some of our day tours. On day tours which include meals served at restaurants, those will be provided only at restaurants following all the applicable hygiene protocols

- The average cleaning effort in all vehicles is doubled both during the day and after the end of each tour.
- All sensitive touch areas such as seats, armrests, sidewalls etc. are intensively cleaned and sanitised daily before and after each tour.

**Air Circulation On Board**:

Our vehicles are equipped with A/C (and when used, the internal air circulation is turned to OFF) but as our safari tours are mainly operated in country side we strongly recommend the tours to be conducted with open windows for continuous fresh air circulation and to feel the freshness of the countryside.

**Our Staff**:

Our staff is trained in the latest hygiene protocols and cleaning procedures. They use personal protective equipment (face masks/shields and optional gloves) to ensure a safe travel experience for you and themselves.
