About Epidaurus
Epidaurus
Situated off the northeastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula, the region of Epidaurus is a quiet area with beautiful nature that is famous for being one of the most important archaeological sites of the country. The Ancient Theater of Epidaurus is considered to be one of the greatest constructions of the Ancient Greek world, built at the end of the 4th century BC, and has been included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Up until this day, the theater is the best-preserved theater in Greece famous for its symmetry and its suburb acoustics home to the Athens and Epidaurus Festival that hosts performances of classical drama every summer.
Set among a lush forest of pine trees, the homonymous village, Palea Epidavros, is built between two peninsulas with a magnificent view of the sea. The sceneries of the mountains blend harmoniously with the seascapes inspiring visitors to discover this beautiful region. It is surely an ideal place to go for vacations and enjoy water activities including snorkeling and scuba diving, visit traditional villages, and taste the exquisite local cuisine.
